Coming to an end

Today is day 9 of the Master Cleanse and I am doing okay.  This being my third time doing the cleanse I can honestly say it was a lot easier than the first two because I knew what to expect and how I would feel.  I also did this to CLEANSE not to lose weight.  I find the people who are doing it to lose weight will have a much harder time with this because they still have an attachment to food.

Day 3 and already a flatter tummy

Not gonna lie, avoiding food was hard.  Since I was constantly around people I would ask if I could smell their food and savor the smells (everyone let me because they felt bad).  I watched things that were about food like Ratatouille; and it got me through day 4.  I also was on Instagram 24/7 liking peoples food pics (apologies to all the random people’s profiles I looked at and liked all their food pics).

Weighed myself this morning and I am 142 pounds, about a 10 pound weight difference from when I started (granted most of that weight was from leftovers in my colon and water weight, lol).  My stomach is so flat right now and I feel thin.  At first I was gonna do 14 days, but I do not want to lose anymore weight so my last day will be tomorrow.

Day 8 and getting some collarbone action

I cannot wait for day 11 because i get to drink ORANGE JUICE!  It is going to be so amazing!  I already have a list of all the foods I want to try to cook.  Look forward to some beautiful culinary masterpieces!

The Master Cleanse

A new year, a new me.  I have decided to attempt the Master Cleanse for the third time.  If you are not familiar with the Master cleanse let me fill you in.  No solid food for a minimum of 10 days (some people have known to go for 30 days).

The last time I did this was back in 2008 so I feel like this is long overdue. A lot of people do the cleanse to lose weight I am doing this to cleanse my mind, body, and soul.  I am finally somewhat on track with no distractions.  After moving, being unemployed, running low on funds, and going through an emotional rollercoaster, I NEED THIS.

The cleanse consists of drinking a home-made Lemonade, salt water, and a Laxative Tea.  You make the lemonade yourself with freshly squeezed organic lemons, cayenne pepper (the spice will help to curb food cravings), and Organic Grade B Maple Syrup.  You can also drink peppermint tea and as much water as you can hold down :)

I am going for 14 days (the last two times I only did 10 days).  Today is day two of my cleanse and so far I am doing okay.  When I woke up this morning I was craving a fruit smoothie, veggie pizza, and a fruit salad. All I need to remember is temptation is easy but will power shows strength.  Stay tuned and wish me luck!

MISSHAPES

I have wanted this book for about 5 years and I finally own a copy.  Found at a used book store on Vanderbilt Ave. (in brooklyn) I purchased it for only $8!

From 2002-2007 (the birth of the HIPSTER movement) this book documents the overall lifestyle and culture of this now closed party, Misshapes.  It’s basically the Studio 54 of the 21st century.

On the weekly you could rub shoulders with celebs like Madonna, Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy), and even Hillary Duff (oh my, LOL).

Here are some cuties…

A place I’ve always wanted to experience but never got the chance.  The memory lives on through this book and the creatures of the night that made it happen.

yeah, i saw sparks

every year there’s high hopes of having a so called “epic” NYE and every year it turns out to be a little bit of a lack luster event. Between the various (costly) events at hotels, clubs and bars, and it being the first year that it was illegal to set off fireworks in hawaii, everyone seemed to be on the same page of not knowing where exactly they would be celebrating.

my night played out as follows: late, light dinner at Du Vin followed by a hop, skip and a jump over to chinatown and finally rushing into waiks at 11:45 to catch the fireworks show at the beach. mellow night, but not too shabby =) here’s to an epic 2012!

New Year resolution for me? To read at least one book on architecture, design, and/or history every month. simple, but doable.
